A message from Nurse Battle

A message from the school nurse:

I am so happy to be serving as your child’s school nurse again this year! If you have medications to drop off for your child you can bring them to “Meet the Teacher” on August 5th. If you are unable to attend please email me @kbattles@blountboe.net or call my office number 205-775-2070 option 1 starting August 4th to schedule a drop off time.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. For prescription medications: I need a Parent Prescriber Authorization Form completed by the prescribing physician. I cannot take in a medication without this form. The medication form and prescription label must match EXACTLY.

2. For over the counter medications: I can only hold the OTC medication in the health room for 2 weeks. I have forms in my office to complete for this; however, if you would like the medication to remain for a longer time frame, please have your child’s physician complete the previously mentioned form with their chosen start/stop dates. OTC medications must be NEW/UNOPENED BOTTLE OR BOX. It must also be AGE APPROPRIATE, for example, if your child is 8 years old…. I cannot accept adult ibuprofen that says “ages 12 and older take…”. It has to be a Childrens version of the medication.

3. It is against Blount BOE policy for a student to bring unauthorized medication on school property! This means, any and all medication (including cough drops, orajel, etc) should be delivered by a PARENT/GUARDIAN to the school nurse and paperwork completed. Under no circumstances should medication be sent to school in your child’s backpack.

I am here to answer any questions you have! I truly love what I do, and I love all of our students like my own. This is a going to be a great school year! Go Bulldogs!
